This
method is less damaging than using bond right on the hair because of the extra
material of tape that acts a protectant.
Supplies
needed:
Machine or Skin (Seamless) Wefts of your choice approximately 48" -58" depending on if you are
single wefting or double wefting; you can use a few different colors by
using 2 or three
different colors on each tape
6-8
Protac Bonding Tapes or any bonding tape roll of you choice
Rat-tail comb, preferable a steel tip comb since the tip is small enough to
make clean partings
Clips for sectioning hair
Soft
measuring tape to measure curved head (Optional)
Liquid
Gold (Optional)
Large project scissors for cutting tape-clean these with orange oil after
Small
pointy tipped scissors for cutting weft-clean these with orange oil after
installation
Super Glue (fast drying) to seal ends of cut weft
Flat Iron to set adhesive on tape after installing it on weft
Blow
dryer to set tape onto natural hair Please keep in mind:
Work slowly and deliberately, don't rush.
Pull off tape slowly from white backing and leave blue backing for last slowly.
Do not cut blunt line into hair prior to installation of whatever system you use
If hair is cut blunt or if the natural hair has a heavy line, you
should shatter or texturize the heavy line so that the new hair to be
installed will blend easier and you will remove the blunt line

Prepare
client’s hair for installation by using a de-toxifying or clarifying shampoo
making sure no conditioner or any other product is used aster rinsing.
A method to install tracks is to create density at the bottom back of
the head by using a double or triple track for the first few rows; as you work up the head, you can install
single wefts so it is lighter towards the top and sides. |

|
| To determine where the partings will
start, take a comb and place it at the top back of the head. Where the
comb leaves the head is where the parting will start. |
 |
| Make a parting from that point to the top back of the ear. |

|
Determine
where you want your first track to go.
Keep in mind you will be installing approx. 5 rows of tracks in the
back.
The first row is usually from the
back of the middle of the ear all the way across to the back of the middle of
the ear.
You can double weft on the first 1 or 2 rows if you want more density in the back but it is not necessary.
|

|
Measure with the soft measuring
tape across from ear to ear leaving approx. 1/8” (from the measurement) from
each side since you do not want it to be visible from the side, especially when
wearing hair up or back.
Or you can just place the Protac tape itself against
the head.
Make sure you are following
the curve of the head with the soft measuring tape or the Protac tape. |
 |
Take the
measurement from the first section and subtract 1/8” to cut the weft, since you
will not want the weft to be as long as the tape.
You can also cut the tape down to 1" if you prefer it not be be so thick.
|
 |
| Cut the Machine or Skin weft from the bottom
up and cut 2 wefts the same size if double-wefting (or 3 for triple
wefting). |
 |
| Place a small drop of Super Glue on the end to prevent shedding or
fraying. |

|
| Carefully and slowly peel the WHITE backing off of the bottom half of the tape leaving the BLUE backing intact |
 |
If you are single-wefting (using one cut weft piece for each tape), place the cut
weft on the bottom in the middle of the tape, you can use the venting holes as a
guide and press from hole to hole making sure it is pressed on straight.
|
 |
If you are double wefting, (Stacking 2 cut wefts on 1 piece of tape to create more bulk and density in the back), place the second weft half way on the tape
just below the middle venting holes.
|
 |
Fold tape in
half over the weft top and sandwich the weft in the tape.
Using a low heat setting on the flat iron,
set the weft to the tape by compressing lightly, a thin fabric or paper may be inserted
between the iron plates and the blue plastic backing to protect both.
|
 |
Carefully and slowly
peel off the blue plastic non-stick backing without bunching the clear thin exposed tape and
without touching it to any other material.
Please save the blue plastic non-stick backing so you can use it for pressing the
tape onto the natural hair without damaging the adhesive after installing the tape to the head.
|
 |
Apply on part, not on scalp.
Do not apply the tape all the way to the edge for a natural look.
If you are using a double weft, face the tape with the "stacked" weft towards the head.
|
 |
| Take the blue plastic non-stick backing that you saved and place it up against
the exposed sticky tape and press firmly across with the top of the comb. |
 |
With the tail of the comb pull out small
sections at a time to pull down over the exposed sticky tape, the section
should be thin enough that you should be able to see through the tape.
|
 |
Once the row is pulled down take your blow dryer
on a low setting and go across row to set tape to natural hair.
|
 |
| Continue up
the head switching from double wefting to single wefting until you reach the
top leaving enough hair at the top to cover the last track. Use a double weft on the first 1 or 2 rows.
|
 |
| (This step
is optional) Place a small bead of Liquid Gold on the end of the weft and press
in to natural hair to keep the ends from pulling up. |
 |
| When you use a
single weft, you can cut the tape in half to make it ¾”, use the ventilation
holes as a guide. |
 |
Use the same technique as previously sandwiching the weft in the tape.
|
|
Now that you are finished with the back you can start work on the sides in front.
Make sure all the tracks follow the curve of the head.
You will
install about 3-4 rows of single weft tracks on the sides in front; these will be small sections.
Start the first row
in the front side just above the corner of the eye matching it up to the corner
of a track coming from the back. |
|
Match it up to one of the tracks from the back.
Go as
far up to the top as desired making sure to leave room for hair to cover the
track.
|
|
When
finished you can cut to blend or nothing at all but style it in.
You can use a large barrel iron, a Marcel or spring clamp will due.
As you take large sections of hair, wind the
hair around the barrel. |
 |
When removing, use a clip to make a barrel curl allowing it cool and set.
|
 |
| Once you have done this
all around the head, use a blow dryer on a cool setting. |
 |
Remove clips and shake
out.
Finished look; please view "HAIR CARE INSTRUCTIONS" page. If edges lift put a small bead of Liquid Gold to corner and press down until dry.
If wefts loosen and slip, remove , wash and re-install as needed.

Removal
Supplies you
will need:
Orange Oil
Remover or any bond remover of your choice. |
 |
Place a small amount of remover directly on the tape.
Do this to each track one at a time. |
 |
Wiggle track from side to side.
Gently slide off track
|
 |
| Comb out any residue and cleanse with a detoxifying shampoo. |
